NCOA Processing and CASS Certification

Suran Systems offers several services to facilitate discount mailing with the US Postal Service and to make sure addresses in your database are valid and current.

Two of these, NCOA processing and CASS certification, are accessed by going to Program → Membership → Address Utilities. There is a no charge for these services. 

NCOA (National Change of Address) Processing

Select the Address Utility Export for NCOA to export names and addresses in your CDM+ database for comparison to the U.S. Postal Service's National Change of Address database. This process will identify records in your database that match individuals, families or businesses which have submitted change of address notifications to the Post Office. NCOA processing is one way to meet the USPS Move Update requirement for Standard and First Class discount (permit) mailing.

CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) Certification

CASS Certification is a process in which the addresses in your database are compared to a database from the U.S. Postal Service for accuracy. It is designed to improve the accuracy of your postal codes, including Zip Code, Zip+4, delivery point (DPC) and carrier route codes that appear on mail pieces. This process will verify that addresses are valid and complete, according to the Postal Service, and will standardize your mailing list to comply with automation requirements.
USPS requires that any mailing claimed at automation rates must be produced from address lists properly matched and coded with CASS-certified address matching methods.

NCOA processing and CASS certification are two separate processes. If you plan to perform both, please NCOA first to get the addresses in your database updated, then CASS-certify the addresses.

Discount Mail Sortation

Suran Systems' Discount Mail Service is a fulfillment service to help you take advantage of the US Postal Service's lowest rates for large mailings. Suran Systems will pre-sort the addresses on your mailing list and return PDF files to you which you will print onto label stock or envelopes. The Discount Mail documentation returned to you will also include container labels (or, "tray tags") and a Postage Statement to accompany your mailing.

This service requires that you export the addresses for your mailing and submit them to Suran Systems by attaching them to a Sortation Request. You will also be asked to indicate the size and weight of the item you're mailing, and to provide mailer identifying information from your organization's mailer profile with the US Postal Service. There is no charge for this service.
