Text Giving Fees beginning May 2023

What's happening?

Beginning May 2023, accepting Text Giving through CDM+ will incur additional fees. These fees relate to registering your organization and use of text (SMS) message for text giving.

Registration is an industry requirement devised by carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.) to reduce unwanted (spam) messaging. Registration is not specific to Suran or our chosen messaging provider, Bandwidth, Inc. We've researched alternative providers and these same registration fees apply to other providers.

Do I have to pay a setup fee even though I already have text giving?

All text giving numbers prior to this change are local numbers. If you want to keep your text giving active after April 2023, you will be responsible for the $75 setup fee. This fee covers  registering your number just like a new enrollment.

If you do not want to pay the setup fee you can move to a toll-free number.

Can I move to a toll-free number?

Yes! Simply cancel your current text giving number and re-enroll with a toll-free number.

We recommend you begin this process as soon as possible due to lengthy registration times.

How can I see my text giving?

You can search against source of a contribution/donation in CDM+ to locate text giving. Text Giving sources are:

  • Text Giving

  • Text Giving (Guest)

The Source field will only show sources for gifts in your database. If you don't see Text Giving listed, this means you do not have any text gifts in CDM+.

What are my next steps?

If you have text giving activity since July 2022

You will be automatically be charged a setup feee and your traffic registered unless you opt-out (see Cancelling Text Giving).

If you intend to register and keep your current local number, we recommend you notify us at customerservice@suran.com as soon as possible. This will allow us to begin the registration process early, which can be lengthy.

If you have no text giving activity since July 2022

Your number will be automatically released, text giving disabled, and no additional fees will be assessed. If you wish to retain your number please notify us at customerservice@suran.com as soon as possible before April 18, 2023.

How do I cancel text giving?

If you do not wish to pay these fees you can cancel text giving on your account. Please see the Cancellation section on Text Giving Fees for how to cancel.

We will reply to confirm your cancellation, and your text giving service will become inoperable on April 30, 2023.

The cancellation notice must be received before Tuesday, April 18, 2023 to avoid being charged any fee.
