Using Membership Records for Visitors

Another option for tracking visitors is to use the Membership records, but to create codes that are specific to visitors.

If you use Membership Records to track visitors, it is imperative that the user periodically review these records to maintain a high level of integrity in the database.

  1. In the Master Coding System, under Addresses, create a Mailing Code for Visitors.

  2. Then, in the Master Coding System, under Individual, create a Membership Code for Non-Member and a Membership Status code for Prospective.

  3. Next, create an Address record and use the Mailing Code you created in Step #1.

  4. Then, on their Individual record, under the Membership tab, select the Non-member code for Membership Code and Prospective for Membership Status that you created in Step #2.

The benefit of using a Membership Record for a visitor is that you can easily integrate it with other parts of CDM+, such as creating a Giving Unit record and tying the individual to events.
